How does donating to ReStore help families?

The money raised by Habitat ReStores helps families in our community build a decent and affordable place to call home. When the items you donate to ReStore are sold, the money helps families achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better future.

What can you donate to ReStore?

Habitat ReStore accepts new and gently used appliances (stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers), home, office, lawn and garden furniture (see below for exclusions), building materials, tools, household and industrial goods and more from individuals and companies.

What building material donations does Habitat ReStore accept?

We accept a wide variety of new and gently used home building materials and many donations come from home renovation projects such as:

  • Kitchen cabinets

  • Countertops

  • Sinks, toilets, and bathtubs

  • Plumbing

  • Internal and external doors, including sliding glass patio doors, windows (vinyl and glass) single-pane glass or window glass

Note:  Please check glass doors and windows are not cracked since cracks may make the glass unstable and likely to break.

  • Tiles and flooring, including undamaged wood flooring with no visible nails & screws.

  • Carpet, without stains

  • Wood from framing or home improvement projects without exposed nails and screws since these can pose a safety hazard

  • Light fixtures, light switches, and switch covers and wiring

  • Door handles and cabinet knobs

  • Fencing

  • Pressure-treated lumber: 2x6, 12' length

  • Pressure-treated lumber: 6x6, 6'-20' length

  • 3/4 minus gravel

  • 1/2 minus gravel with fines

  • Bricks/blocks

  • Pavers

  • Asphalt, tar, and bitumen-based products (new)

What other stuff does Habitat ReStore accept?

We also accept:

  • Sofa beds

  • Box springs

  • Bunk beds

  • Bedding, household linens such as sheets, towels, etc.

  • Bab furniture or baby items

  • Single-pane glass and window glass

  • Florescent, canned and track lights

  • Aerosol paints (spray cans)

  • Roof patch and repair

  • Traffic and road marking paints 

  • Deck cleaners

  • Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts

  • Paint thinners, mineral spirits, solvents, chemical strippers

  • Shop application paints and finishes

  • Auto and marine paints

  • Art and craft paints

  • Cleaning fluids

  • Caulking fluids

  • Caulking compounds, epoxies, glues, adhesives

  • Wood preservatives containing pesticides

  • Two-compound coatings

What can’t you donate to ReStore?

We cannot accept the following types of donations:​

  • Mattresses

  • Clothing of any type and personal items

  • Computers and computer accessories

  • Old TVs

  • Aluminum windows

  • Fluorescent light bulbs 

  • Paint additives, colorants, tints, resins

  • Industrial Maintenance (IM) coatings

Do you recycle paint and metal?

We accept only the following types of recycled paint and metal and do not charge a fee.

Note: Leaking, unlabeled, and empty containers are not accepted.

  • Interior or exterior architectural paints, latex, acrylic, water-based, alkyd, oil-based, enamel (including textured coatings)

  • Deck coatings, floor paints (including elastomeric)

  • Primers, sealers, undercoaters

  • Stains

  • Shellacs, lacquers, varnishes, urethanes (single component)

  • Waterproofing concrete/masonry/wood sealers and repellents (not tar or bitumen-based)

  • Field and lawn paints
